In an article posted today on Billboard.com, The Weeknd has been ranked as the 12th highest paid artist of 2018.
Billboard described The Weeknd’s earnings and rise from last year:
Abel Tesfaye jumps 30 spots from last year’s list to become the No. 2 earner among R&B/hip-hop artists and a superstar of the streaming era, with $3.8 million in royalties. He’s in the top 10 for digital track sales, on demand streams and radio spins. LAST YEAR: 42.
As you can see from the figures above, Tesfaye made the majority of his earnings from touring, rakinng in over $17 million from performing in-front of his fans.
This puts The Weeknd above artists such as Kendrick Lamar (13), JAY Z (18), Future (27), J Cole (35), Drake (37), Ariana Grande (42) and Taylor Swift (48).
